CNY Coalition for Young Children

with Special Needs

Mission: The Central New York Coalition for Young Children with Special Needs is committed to providing leadership and support for quality therapeutic and educational services for children and their families.

They believe that a child's development is best supported through family centered services provided in the environment that best matches the child's strengths and needs.

 

Children can't vote and legislators make decisions that affect children every day.  So get informed before Election Day and make sure your vote is a vote for children and families.  Connect for Kids also has a "Toolkit" with funding resources that may be applicable to local child care, school age and youth development programs.

The EarlyChildHood.org website was developed by the NYS Council on Children and Families' Head Start Collaboration Project to support professional development and improve the quality of early childhood and school-age programs. It is designed to provide a one-stop source of information for those exploring careers in early childhood and school-age programs as well as those already working in the field and looking to advance in their careers. It also contains information that supports the efforts of program directors and others to improve the quality of their programs.

 

Is a regional clearinghouse providing information, referral and support to families, professionals, and community agencies concerned with young children birth to five who may have a special need.  The agency works closely with families, professionals and community agencies to provide unbiased information so that informed choices can be made about coordinated and sensible services.
 

Developed and supported by NACCRRA as a fully archived and searchable resource and referral for the latest news and issues throughout the country for early childhood professionals. 
 
Mission: of the Every Child Matters Education Fund is to help push children's many needs to a higher place on the country's political and policy agenda. The Every Child Matters Education Fund conducts polls, publishes reports, works with reporters and state children's groups, runs advertising, and conducts campaigns on behalf children.
 

Family Child Care Association

of New York State, Inc

Mission is to act as a united voice to promote and strengthen the professionalism of providers thereby promoting the quality of family child care. 

The Family Child Care Association of New York State, Inc. is a non-profit, professional statewide organization dedicated to supporting family child care providers and associations.  Members include advocates of quality childcare - providers, parents, and agency staff.

 

"Healthy NY" is a program that provides qualifying small businesses, sole proprietors and working individuals the opportunity to purchase health insurance at a reduced cost.  As a Registered/Licensed child care provider you are considered a small business.

National Association of Child Care

Resource and Referral Agencies

NACCRRA is a recognized leader in the Early Childhood field, and  provides technical consultation and resources to member child care resource and referral agencies.

 

Mission Statement "The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) exists for the purpose of leading and consolidating the efforts of individuals and groups working to achieve healthy development and constructive education for all young children."

 

The National Association for the Education of Young Children is the nation's largest and most influential organization of early childhood educators and others dedicated to improving the quality of programs for children from birth through third grade.

 

Founded in 1926, NAEYC approaches its 75th anniversary with over 100,000 members and a national network of nearly 450 local, state, and regional Affiliates.  NAEYC Affiliate Groups work to improve professional practice and working conditions in early childhood education and to build public support for high quality early childhood programs.

 

Mission Statement "The National Association for Family Child Care is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality child care by strengthening the profession of family child care."

A nationwide study of family day care was initiated in 1978 by The Children's Foundation in Washington, D.C. This study was part of their National Family Day Care Project.  An Advisory Panel was established, which was composed of family child care providers and advocates from across the country.  The purpose of the Panel was to share information, network with the family child care community and to define the scope of needs for the profession of family child care.  Use this (history) link to get the complete story on NAFCC.

OCFS Website

The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) was formed on January 8, 1998 by merging the former State Division for Youth with the family and children’s programs administered by the former State Department of Social Services. The agency was created to improve the integration of services for New York’s children, youth, families and vulnerable populations and to promote their development and protect them from violence, neglect, abuse and abandonment.

 

The New York State Office of Children and Family Services maintains a statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment for reports made pursuant to the Social Services Law. The Central Register, also known as the "Hotline", receives telephone calls alleging child abuse or maltreatment within New York State. The Central Register relays information from the calls to the local Child Protective Service for investigation, monitors their prompt response, and identifies if there are prior child abuse or maltreatment reports.
